POP-UP GALLERY @ THE BURIEN COMMUNITY CENTER

What: Paintings by Helena Rogers

When:  October 1-31, 2019

Opening Reception: Tuesday October 1, 6:00-7:30 PM, Burien Community Center

Where: Burien Community Center, 14700 6th Avenue SW, Burien, WA. Center hours are Monday–Thursday, 8:30 AM – 8:00 PM, and Friday. 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

What: Landscape painting workshop with noted painter Paul Illian.

The student will learn to create a forest landscape painting. Skills developed will include painting simple trees, creating atmospheric & linear perspective, creating lighting effects, layering, using contrast to establish depth, & some brush techniques.

When:  October 19, 2019, from 1:00-3:00 PM

Where: Highline Heritage Museum, 819 SW 152nd Street, Burien

Cost: $15 for Museum members, $20 for general public

BURIEN ART MARKET

What: Burien’s biggest art sale and party. About 50 artists will offer nine new works each on 8″ x 8″ panels.  There is also an art store for direct sales. Proceeds help Burien Arts to bring quality, affordable art experiences to our community.

What:  Poetry readings with Poets West, curated by poet Lisa Noble. Poets can arrange to read ahead of time or drop in to read. All ages welcome, but some poems may not be suitable for children. https://www.poetswest.com/
