SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK 2019

What: The Taming of the Shrew, by William Shakespeare.

In this production a troupe of Women’s Suffragists perform this play as part of a protest demonstration for  women’s rights.  The plot in brief: Petruchio undertakes marrying and taming strong-willed, outspoken Katherine.

When: Saturday, August 10, 7:00 PM-9:00 PM

Where: Lake Burien School Memorial Park, 1620 SW 149th Street, Burien. Restrooms & play equipment available. Bring a picnic.

Cost: Free, donations appreciated.

CHILDREN’S SUMMER ART CLASSES

WHAT: Art classes for kids with different projects each week (collage, drawing, photo-paper prints, etc)

WHEN: Saturdays June 29-August 17, 2019. 10:30 AM-12:00 PM

Aug 10: Book Making – We will explore a variety of simple book making techniques to create a pocket notebook your child can be proud to call his own.

Aug 17: Colorful Coasters – Create sets of coasters for your tables at home. We will have stamps & paints to make a matching set. Personalize them for your family or make a gift for a friend.

What:  Poetry readings with Poets West, curated by poet Lisa Noble. Poets can arrange to read ahead of time or drop in to read. All ages welcome, but some poems may not be suitable for children. https://www.poetswest.com/
