POETRY GATHERING

What:  Gaylloyd Sisson and other local poets read their works aloud

When: July 20, 2018, 7:00 – 9:00 PM.  (This event takes place every third Friday.)

Where: Humble Vine wine shop & wine tasting bar, 824 SW 152nd Street, Burien 98166 (Olde Burien)

Cost: Free admission. Please buy a drink, however, as the shop owner has no other  income from this event.

CHILDREN’S ART CLASSES @ THE BURIEN LIBRARY

What: Summer art classes for children

When: Wednesdays, July 11, 18, and 25, 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Join us for a three art workshops for kids hosted by The Makery. The kids will use recycled materials and simple crafts to create a project to take home each session. Ideal for ages 5 and up, under 5 with an adult.

July 11:  3D Nature Spaces: The students will use locally gathered nature to build three-dimensional spaces using play dough as the glue.

July 18:  Recycled Assemblage Art: The students will make colorful assemblage art pieces using recycled and found materials.

July 25: Toy Spinners: The students will make their own version of a fidget spinner using cardboard, marbles, watercolors, and lots of glitter!

B-TOWN BEAT ART WALK

What: Art & music in downtown Burien businesses . Burien Arts will exhibit each month at the Oilerie. Drawings and illustrations by Stasia Burrington are on display through June.

When: This event takes place every first Friday during the summer months.

Where: Downtown Burien businesses between 4th & 10th Ave. SW. The Oilerie is at 540 SW 152nd Street

SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK

Thanks to a grant from 4Culture, we are happy to bring two Greenstage productions to Burien again this summer.

What: Henry IV, Part 1, by William Shakespeare. Henry IV is having a  difficult reign. In addition to his political troubles, he is upset by the behavior of his son and heir, who spends his time in taverns with his pal, the drunken and corrupt Sir John Falstaff.

When: Saturday, July 21 at 7:00 PM

Where: Lake Burien School Memorial Park, 1620 SW 149th St, Burien. Bring your lawn chairs or blanket & picnic. Restrooms and children’s play equipment available.

Cost: Free. Donations to Burien Arts appreciated.

What: The Three Musketeers (adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas). Adventure and intrigue in 17th c France as hero young D’Artagnan arrives in Paris seeking to join the royal Musketeers.
